According to the NFL’s official transactions report, the Kansas City Chiefs released running back La’Mical Perine on Friday.
A 2020 fourth-round draft selection of the New York Jets, Perine signed with Kansas City’s practice squad during the 2022 postseason. With the Chiefs managing multiple running back injuries during the 2023 season, he was signed to the active roster on November 25.
Perine dressed for three games with the Chiefs last season, rushing for 77 yards and adding 33 receiving yards. 79 of his 110 scrimmage yards came during Week 18 against the Los Angeles Chargers — when most starters rested due to the Chiefs’ playoff seeding being finalized.
