Kansas City is beginning to clear the deck heading into the summer, releasing wide receiver Fred Williams. Williams has been on the practice squad over the past two seasons but has never appeared in a regular-season game. Williams was a human highlight reel in the preseason last year, making plays all over the field. He still could not crack the active roster.
In all honesty, this is a good thing for the Chiefs. Williams is likely a quality guy and we wish him well, but Kansas City needed to improve the level of competition at the wide receiver spot.
