BALTIMORE -- The first hint at how Sunday’s game would go arrived on the Kansas City Chiefs’ first possession. Quarterback Alex Smith was run out of bounds on a third-down scramble short of the first-down marker, but burly Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman Tim Jernigan slammed into him on the sideline.
The resulting unnecessary-roughness penalty allowed the Chiefs to continue the drive. The Chiefs, as they always seem to do after an opponent's mistake, went on to score a touchdown, in this case on a 38-yard run by Charcandrick West.
That’s the way the day went, indeed.
