Chiefs coach Andy Reid shuts down possibility of a quarterback controversy

Quarterback Nick Foles turned in an impressive performance in relief of Alex Smith in the Chiefs’ 30-14 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, but coach Andy Reid quickly shut down the possibility of a budding quarterback controversy in his weekly media session on Monday.

When asked if Foles — who completed four passes for 20 yards or more on Sunday — gives the Chiefs more capability in terms of downfield throws, Reid adamantly shot down that possibility.

“I’m not even sure I like the way you’re going with this,” Reid said. “Alex can do all the things that needs to be done in this offense and do them at a Pro Bowl caliber level.
