KANSAS CITY, Mo. —The Kansas City Chiefs clinched at least the fifth overall seed when the New York Jets lost to the Buffalo Bills.
The Chiefs will take a 10-5 record into today’s game against the Oakland Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium. If they lose, the Chiefs would finish with the same record as the Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers but would be the higher seeded team because it would win the tiebreaker under NFL procedures. The Chiefs would have a better record than the Jets and Steelers in games against AFC opponents.
As the fifth overall seed and the top wild-card entrant, the Chiefs would play their first-round playoff game against the 9-7 Texans in Houston.
