On New Year’s Eve, the (9-7) Kansas City Chiefs are hosting (8-6) the Cincinnati Bengals on GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. With a victory, Kansas City can clinch its eighth consecutive AFC West championship — while Cincinnati must have a win to keep its postseason hopes alive.
First quarter
The Chiefs won the opening coin toss, deferring decision of possession to the second half. That gave Cincinnati the ball first, starting from the 25-yard line after a touchback.
The Bengals had to march down the field, fighting through three third-down conversions with one scramble, then a big completion to wide receiver Tee Higgins.
