The 2014 season left much to be desired when it came to the Kansas City Chiefs offense. While an Alex Smith-led unit was never expected to post elite totals for the Chiefs, Smith and his lack of pass-catching options gave the team a meager 199 passing yards per game, 7.0 yards per attempt and just 18 passing touchdowns – all numbers that ranked in the bottom third of the league last year.
Those totals actually mask the fact that Smith and the passing game were extremely effective at times, doing so mainly with three-tight end sets.
