When the Chiefs meet the Browns on Sunday, Cleveland will have a new coach.
Hue Jackson was fired on Monday, a day after the Browns lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers and fell to 2-5-1.
Jackson’s record over three seasons with the Browns: 3-36-1.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported the firing.
Former Chiefs assistant Al Saunders reportedly will take over as the interim coach., according to Cleveland television station Saunders was the Chiefs’ assistant head coach and offensive coordinator from 2001-05.
A problem for Jackson: He and offensive coordinator Todd Haley, the Chiefs head coach from 2009-11, weren’t on the same page and word going into the weekend was that Jackson or Haley wouldn’t be around for the Chiefs game.
