Brett Veach say Chiefs want to “watch the scoreboard light up”

On Wednesday, the Kansas City Chiefs held a press conference for general manager Brett Veach at the beginning of the official new league year for the National Football League. The goal was to address the team’s moves to this point, to answer questions about some recent trades and to follow-up with the media as the transaction wire heats up.

Veach gave a rare glimpse into the actions of the Chiefs front office, more so than any of his recent predecessors including John Dorsey and Scott Pioli. The entire conference is worth watching (or at least reading the transcript) for his approach to signing recent free agent acquisitions like Sammy Watkins and Anthony Hitchens as well as his thoughts on trading Alex Smith.
