Brett Favre hosts a weekly radio show on Tuesdays on SiriusXM radio and this week his former position coach, Andy Reid, was one of his guests. Reid coached Favre and the other Green Bay Packers quarterbacks for two seasons in 1997 and 1998.
Favre recalled being less than thrilled to hear that Reid, the Packers’ tight ends coach at the time, would replace the departing Steve Mariucci as the quarterbacks coach. He received the news about Reid one in day a phone call from Mike Holmgren, then Green Bay’s head coach.
“After I woke up from fainting, I was like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me,’ ’’ Favre said.
