A decision was expected some time ago, but the only thing that’s clear now after weeks of waiting is that free agent cornerback Bashaud Breeland is just fine with taking his time.
The 26-year-old corner is the easily the best pass defender left on the open market and could arguably be the best defender still around. He’s already earned a three-year, $24 million offer this spring from the Carolina Panthers which was, unfortunately for him, nullified by a failed physical. Instead of scrambling to take the best deal from the first interested suitor, Breeland has instead exhibited a very calculated, cautious approach that has instead kept other teams waiting as he looks for the best overall deal.
