The warmest place at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday for kickoff? The field.
It was about 50 degrees thanks the pipes of heated water that run below the sand under the stadium turf.
The pipes begin in the boiler room about halfway up the tunnel in the stadium’s southeast corner. They emerge from the room and the last thing they pass before disappearing underground to begin their journey to the field is Warpaint’s makeshift stable in the tunnel.
Warpaint wasn’t there on Sunday morning. Too cold. Games like Sunday’s against the Tennessee Titans, and the previous contest against the Raiders, is why the Chiefs installed the $2.
