At the start of training camp for the Kansas City Chiefs, the coaching staff acknowledged the team was waiting for an individual to step up as the defense’s second cornerback behind Trent McDuffie, who is entering his third season after earning first-team All-Pro honors in 2023.
Weeks later, the Chiefs are back at their team facilities in Kansas City, and that hole in the lineup is still prevalent. The evaluation may extend into preseason Week 3 since third-year cornerback Jaylen Watson has yet to play in live action this year.
Head coach Andy Reid was asked about the competition before practice on Monday, giving an update on the battle between Watson, Joshua Williams and Nazeeh Johnson.
