Alex Smith began preparing last week for this Sunday's game

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith was so active before last Sunday’s game that it was almost as if he played in it rather than watch from the sideline.

Smith spent more than an hour on the Arrowhead Stadium field before the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars throwing to tight end Ross Travis, wide receiver Chris Conley, an equipment manager or anyone else who might be available to snag a few throws.

It was all about making this week run more smoothly. Smith will start again this Sunday against the Panthers in Charlotte after missing last week’s game with symptoms of head trauma, though both he and the Chiefs say he didn’t have a concussion.
