A closer look at Laurent Duvernay-Tardif’s new extension

In a pretty quiet free agency period, the Kansas City Chiefs did make a few moves. They released franchise great Jamaal Charles, signed defensive tackle Bennie Logan, and extended several of their own players, including safeties Eric Berry and Daniel Sorensen. Another extension given went to offensive lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif.

The new contract is a 5-year deal with a total value of $42,150,000. Of that amount $20,090,000 is guaranteed—just under half of the total contract value. That’s not too bad.
