The Jaguars signed left guard Zane Beadles to a five-year, $30-million contract last year.
Now, he’s fighting to hold his starting spot.
Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell aggressively addressed the offensive line after the unit was largely responsible for surrendering a league-high 71 sacks last season as the team went 3-13.
In free agency, Caldwell signed right tackle Jermey Parnell and center Stefan Wisniewski. Those moves were not surprising. He then took the revamp to another level by investing the team’s third-round pick (67th overall) on left guard A.J. Cann.
For Beadles, the message was obvious and one he understands.
