TAMPA | Jaguars coach Gus Bradley needed only two words to describe the meltdown on his punt coverage team Sunday.
“Totally unacceptable.’’
The biggest breakdown was a 58-yard return by Bobby Rainey that set up a touchdown and turned out to be critical in Tampa Bay’s 38-31 victory.
Rainey’s return not only featured poor coverage, but included a bizarre play by the Jaguars’ Bernard Pierce.
Pierce seemed to be confused during the return and turned to block a Tampa Bay player as Rainey raced by him.
Pierce had no explanation for the gaffe after the game.
