Nine Jaguars players have been ruled out of Friday night’s preseason opener against Pittsburgh, including rookie running back T.J. Yeldon, who sustained a sprained finger in last Saturday’s scrimmage.
Yeldon practiced all week with a non-contact jersey on and he talked with general manager Dave Caldwell, coach Gus Bradley and the Jaguars’ medical staff after today’s walk-through.
“He’s doing good and everything and it wasn’t so much holding the ball as it was [pass] protection and how he’d be,” Bradley said. “We can’t put him out there at this time if he’s not 100 percent.”
Also out: Defensive linemen Jared Odrick (knee), Roy Miller (knee), Chris Clemons (undisclosed) and Sen’Derrick Marks (knee), free safety James Sample (forearm), receivers Marqise Lee (hamstring) and Neal Sterling (hamstring) and cornerback Peyton Thompson (hamstring).
