The defense for the Jacksonville Jaguars currently has very solid starters in most areas. Equally important are backups and depth. Injuries occur during the season and there must be an adequate backup. Also, defensive players need to have rest periods after chasing running backs and quarterbacks around the field. Substitutes are critical to a successful season.

The defensive line’s returning starters played very well last season. Top-end Jaguars returning defensive linemen include Calais Campbell, Yannick Ngakoue, Malik Jackson, Marcell Dareus, Abry Jones and Dante Fowler.
