I’m not one to usually give a damn about the quality of an onside kick. To me, they typically look like a crapshoot and while the kick matters, you’re also counting on things outside of your control like bounce or an opponent fumbling the ball.
But the Pittsburgh Steelers are making me rethink this whole thing.
With 2:18 left in the fourth quarter, and the Steelers down 42-35, Chris Boswell lined up for an onside kick. It was a weird situation since the Steelers still had their timeouts and the two minute warning, but whatever.
