The Jacksonville Jaguars were big players in free agency this year, handing out huge contracts to Malik Jackson and Tashaun Gipson. These moves followed the big signings from 2015 (Julius Thomas, Jared Odrick, and Jermey Parnell), but these signings were a big change from general manager David Caldwell’s approach over his first 2 seasons at the helm.
When he took over in 2013, Caldwell knew he had a complete overhaul on his hands and the franchise was a few years away from being truly competitive. With this in mind, he only made prudent signings of underutilized veterans going into their second contract.
