When Rashean Mathis steps onto the field Friday night at EverBank Field, it won’t feel like just another preseason game for him.
It will be an emotional moment.
“Home is home,’’ he said.
Mathis, a Jacksonville native who played at Englewood High School and Bethune-Cookman, was the Jaguars’ second-round pick in the 2003 draft. He will have a homecoming when the Detroit Lions play the Jaguars in the third preseason game for both teams.
It will be the first time Mathis has seen the stadium since the team added the pools, scoreboards and cabanas, but it’s still the stadium where he played the first 10 years of his NFL career.
