Blaine Gabbert may be starting his first meaningful NFL game in a long, long time. While the Jacksonville Jaguars gear up for the New York Jets, it’s interesting to hear about a team that is taking a chance on the garbage the Jags threw out. That and other news as we prowl the web.
Gabbert has played in just one game since the Jaguars traded him to San Francisco for a sixth-round pick in March 2014. The 49ers re-signed Gabbert to a two-year, $4 million contract after the 2014 season.
Gabbert, the No. 10 overall pick in the 2011 draft, never became the franchise quarterback former Jaguars general manager Gene Smith envisioned when he traded two picks to get him.
