Prosecutors dismiss domestic-battery charge against former Jaguar John Henderson

A domestic-battery charge filed against former Jacksonville Jaguar John Henderson was dropped this month after his wife made it clear she did not want the State Attorney’s Office to prosecute and said her husband suffers from mental-health issues as a result of his football career, according to court documents.

The fact that Henderson, 37, was taken into custody under the Baker Act also played a part in the State Attorney’s Office dropping the charges because of the possibility of an “insanity defense,” according to court documents.

The documents also show Henderson is in litigation with the National Football League concerning his concussion syndrome and he is “seeking additional examinations with a neuropsychologist.
