Olson: Jaguars need passing game to open up running game

As the Jaguars hit the first quarter pole with their fourth game in Indianapolis Sunday, they find themselves looking to improve both the running game and the passing game.

They are 23rd in rushing yardage and 22nd in passing yardage.

Offensive coordinator Greg Olson said the problem with the running game is that they’ve faced loaded boxes with teams bringing a safety into the box to have eight defenders ready to stop the run.

T.J. Yeldon has averaged just 3.2 yards a carry with 154 yards in 48 carries.

If the Jaguars can be more consistent in the passing game, it may force teams to stop loading the box and open up the running game.
