JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars have made a surprising move just days before training camp.
The team announced that it waived wide receiver/kick returner Ace Sanders on Friday.
Sanders had been with the Jaguars for two seasons, collecting 57 receptions for 539 receiving yards and one touchdown in 27 games (four starts).
Sanders had been competing with veterans Arrelious Benn, Tandon Doss, Bryan Walters and others for one of the final wide receiver spots on the roster.
With rookie running back Corey Grant standing out as a returner in organized team activities and minicamp and the fourth round selection of Rashad Greene in this year's NFL Draft, Sanders became expendable.
