In a rather surprising move, the Jaguars have traded cornerback Sidney Jones IV to Seattle, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Compensation for the trade is unknown at the time, but the expectation is a Day 3 2022 NFL Draft pick.
Jones was one of the better players on the Jaguars defense, filling in for CJ Henderson when Henderson was injured. He finished 2020 with 26 tackles and two interceptions, to go along with nine pass deflections. This preseason, however, Jones struggled in coverage, possibly due to the new change in scheme.
The Jaguars have a lot of depth at the cornerback position in the wake of the Jones trade, however.
