Jaguars offensive coordinator Greg Olson had a plan to feature the tight ends prominently in the passing game this season.
“When we were putting this together, we said let’s go out in free agency and go get Julius Thomas and bring back Marcedes Lewis and Clay Harbor and Nic Jacobs,” Olson said. “We felt like we could turn into a team that heavily relies on the tight ends.”
Things haven’t gone according to plan.
Thomas broke a bone in his hand in the first preseason game. There is still no timetable for his return.
During the preseason, Harbor (five), Lewis (four) and Jacobs (four) combined for 13 catches without Thomas.
