The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed veteran free agent quarterback Ryan Nassib to their active roster, the team announced on Monday afternoon. To clear room on the roster for Nassib the team placed safety Calvin Pryor on injured reserve.
The move to sign a quarterback is simultaneously surprising and not surprising. The Jaguars entered the season with just two quarterbacks on their roster, with none on the practice squad, and Blake Bortles hold on the starting gig seemed tenuous. After an awful showing on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, including three turnovers, perhaps the team needed another player to prepare for a potential quarterback change.
