The Jacksonville Jaguars announced that they’ve signed RB Jonathan Grimes to a contract on Friday and waived RB Tyler Gaffney with an injury designation.
Should Gaffney pass through waivers unclaimed, he would revert to the team’s injured reserve list on Saturday.
Gaffney, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the Panthers back in 2014. He was in the third year of his four-year, $2,316,600 rookie contract and set to make a base salary of $600,000 for the 2016 season.
The Patriots wound up claiming him off of waivers from the Panthers in 2014 after Carolina cut him loose with the intention of getting him through waivers.
