The Jacksonville Jaguars announced Tuesday that they’ve signed LB Jonathan Freeny to their active roster and have waived DB Lafayette Pitts.
Freeny worked out for the Jaguars on Monday and it appears as though he was impressive enough to receive an offer from the team.
Freeny, 28, originally signed on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers back in 2011. He spent four years in Miami before signing on with the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent in 2015.
The Patriots signed him to a two-year contract extension coming out of the preseason last year but elected to cut him loose on Saturday as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players.
