Jaguars rookie free safety James Sample underwent surgery this morning after sustaining a broken right arm during Thursday’s organized team activity workout.
The OTA was open to the media, but Sample’s injury wasn’t noticeable.
General manager Dave Caldwell told the Times-Union the injury happened halfway through the final period of practice.
“Half-speed banging of arms … if that,” Caldwell said. “It was pretty benign. Just one of those things. It wasn’t even a collision. Accidental.”
After practice, Sample was sent to the hospital for x-Rays and Dr. Kevin Kaplan performed the operation.
Caldwell said Sample is likely to start training camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, which would free up a roster spot.
