Jaguars safeties Johnathan Cyprien, James Sample bring physical style

The Jaguars safety spots were in disarray with injuries in Sunday’s 51-17 loss at New England.

However, the days of cornerback Peyton Thompson playing free safety might be over.

The strong safety position stabilized Wednesday with Johnathan Cyprien returning to practice in full as the Jaguars (1-2) begin preparation for Sunday’s game at Indianapolis (1-2).

Rookie James Sample appears headed for a starting assignment at free safety for injured Sergio Brown.

The 6-foot, 217-pound Cyprien and Sample (6-2, 215) would be the most physical group of starting safeties the Jaguars have fielded in coach Gus Bradley’s three seasons.
