Jaguars rookie WR Rashad Greene goes on short-term injured reserve after thumb surgery

The Jaguars signed receiver Bryan Walters on Tuesday to replace rookie receiver Rashad Greene on the roster.

Greene, drafted in the fifth round, underwent surgery on his right thumb Tuesday and was placed on the injured reserve/designated to return list. That means Greene can't return to practice until Nov. 3 and won't be able to play until Nov. 19 against Tennessee. A team can only use the designation once.

The former Florida State standout suffered the injury in Sunday's 23-20 win over Miami. He dropped two passes in the game. On the season, Greene has nine catches for 35 yards and a touchdown.
