Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles announced Monday the creation of a charitable foundation in his name to benefit first responders and children with learning disabilities.
The Blake Bortles Foundation’s first signature event will be a benefit concert April 15 followed by a charity golf tournament the next day at the King & Bear Golf Course in St. Augustine.
“When you become a professional athlete, everybody thinks you have to do some kind of charity work and I wanted to, but I didn’t want to rush into it,” Bortles said in a phone interview. “I wanted to find the things I was passionate about and take the time to do it right and actually make a difference and have a positive impact.
