The Jaguars are at 75 players after making three roster moves this morning.
Strong safety James Sample (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve and the team released tight end Nic Jacobs and defensive end Bjoern Werner.
The next cut is down to 53 players by Saturday. The Jaguars have their only practice of the week today at 10 a.m.
Sample, a 2015 fourth-round pick, was injured in the preseason opener against the New York Jets and hadn’t practiced or played since. He was limited to four games last year because of a shoulder injury.
Jacobs represents a surprise, at least for the first round of cuts.
