Just a year before Shad Khan bought the Jacksonville Jaguars from Dolores and Wayne Weaver in 2011, he sought to buy the majority stake in St. Louis Rams following the death of longtime owner Georgia Frontiere and the decision by her children to sell the franchise.
Only one thing stood in his way: Rams minority owner Stan Kroenke, the man who on Tuesday presented to NFL owners his vision for returning the team to Southern California with the proposed development of a reported $1.7 billion stadium as part of a larger multiuse project in Inglewood.
Few details of Kroenke’s plan emerged following Tuesday’s presentation to NFL owners at a meeting – which also included a pitch from a competing stadium project in Carson, Calif.
