Jaguars Notebook: New chance for DE Werner; seventh-round pick Woodard likely to miss season

Opportunity ahead for new DE Werner

New Jaguars defensive end Bjoern Werner has never been so happy to put his hand back on the ground and hopes it can be the first step toward realizing the potential that made him a first-round pick just three years ago.

Werner, who signed with the Jaguars on May 11 in hopes of rediscovering the disruptiveness that made him a star at Florida State, was all smiles Monday coming off the field following the first day of organized team activities.

“It’s just reminding me of being back in my college days because the last three years was a lot of standing up,” said Werner, who transitioned to outside linebacker as part of a 3-4 defense in Indianapolis.
