It didn’t get as much notice, but the Jaguars also had problems on special teams and ranked 27th in a formula put together by the Dallas Morning News ranking special teams in various categories.
Special teams coach Mike Mallory said the Jaguars started to fix the problems in the second half of last year. They had three of Josh Scobee’s field goal attempts blocked in the first eight games, but didn’t have any blocked in the last eight. And Scobee had a 43-yard game winner against the Giants in Week 13 with 28 seconds left.
To fix the problem, Mallory said, “We became bigger inside and Josh did a really good job of working his operation time and his elevation.
