The Jaguars know the depth at linebacker is concerning.
The defense has a fine trio of starters in Paul Posluszny (middle), Telvin Smith (weak side) and Dan Skuta (strong side or Otto). However, the players behind those three are inexperienced.
The Jaguars got a sense of what their defense would look like with a depleted corps on Friday when Posluszny and Skuta were each given a veteran’s day off. LaRoy Reynolds, a special teams ace who struggled on defense last year, played the strong side while Khairi Fortt took Posluszny’s place with the first team.
Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said after the session it was his intent to see what the backups could do.
