The Jaguars are down to their 53-man roster for the start of the regular season.
The team announced 20 players were cut on Saturday, the NFL deadline. Defensive tackle Michael Bennett (calf) was placed on injured reserve, while cornerback Aaron Colvin begins his four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs. He does not count against the 53 during the suspension.
Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell made some interesting choices to pair the roster down from 75.
Running back Joe Banyard, defensive end Chris Smith and cornerback Josh Johnson all made the team.
The Jaguars released the following veterans: receiver Arrelious Benn, offensive guard Mackenzy Bernadeau, linebacker Ryan Davis and guard Jacques McClendon.
