This Jaguars offseason has been entirely about The New — new defensive coordinator (Todd Wash), new free agents (seven additions) and new optimism (however misguided it might be).
But at some point this spring, the Jaguars should dip into The Old and recognize a key player from their last two playoff teams.
The team should name cornerback Rashean Mathis as the next member of the Pride of the Jaguars.
Mathis announced his retirement last month after a 13-year career — the first decade with his hometown Jaguars and the last three with Detroit.
