Appearing on the Bill Simmons Podcast on Thursday, NFL Films’ Greg Cosell discussed Denver’s defensive effort in the Super Bowl win over Carolina and delivered a surprising opinion.
“After watching the tape, I thought the best Denver defensive player on the field was Malik Jackson,” Cosell said. “He was [a fifth-round pick] when he came out of Tennessee who was viewed as not quite quick enough to play defensive end and not quite big enough to play defensive tackle. Now, the value of that player has increased. The hybrid defensive end/defensive tackle has value now in the NFL.
