Reaction: Extremely rare was the word around the NFL on Friday night, hours after Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler was diagnosed with a torn left anterior cruciate ligament.

Emails were sent to reporters and a few club personnel for the other 31 teams asking if they had witnessed a Fowler Situation.

The survey produced only four other instances:

Buffalo (2005): Third-round tight end Kevin Everett sustained a torn knee ligament.

New Orleans (2009): Fourth-round linebacker Stanley Amoux tore his Achilles tendon.
