Jaguars Insider: Arnsparger was mentor to Jags' assistant coach

Jaguars receivers coach Jerry Sullivan grew up without parents in 1950s and ‘60s Miami, bouncing around foster homes. Starting in 1984, well into a coaching career that is now into a fifth decade, he met the person he would call his father figure.

Bill Arnsparger, the famed defensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins’ “No-Names” (1972 perfect season) and “Killer Bs,” units, was hired as LSU’s head coach and hired Sullivan to coach receivers.

“I loved him like you would love a dad,” Sullivan said Friday, hours after Arnsparger died at 88. “Very much a father figure.
