Jaguars have plan to make do without defensive leader Sen'Derrick Marks

Sen’Derrick Marks brings pressure and physicality to the Jaguars defense.

On Sunday, the standout defensive tackle will bring neither.

The Jaguars will be without their best defensive player in Sunday’s opener against Carolina at EverBank Field. Marks continues to recover from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee sustained in last season’s finale at Houston on Dec. 28.

“My thing is to keep working and rely on whatever the doctors say,” Marks said. “I’m always going to be pressing. If it’s not this week, I’ll press to get back next week.”

The Jaguars will turn to Tyson Alualu, as well as Jared Odrick and rookie Michael Bennett, to try and survive until Marks can return to the three technique position.
