Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell didn’t suddenly experience a breakthrough Tuesday when he predicted banned receiver Justin Blackmon’s odds of returning to the NFL – with any team – are slim.
He just decided to reveal his opinion publicly.
In his most pointed statements about the Blackmon debacle, Caldwell said: “I guess I harbor hope [for a return], but realistically, when you’re away from the game for [nearly two years], what you were [talent-wise] is not what you will probably be. Your skills do erode, especially when you’re not in shape and not in top football shape.
