The Jaguars’ bad luck with injuries involving this year’s draft class continued Thursday when free safety James Sample sustained a fractured right arm.
Sample, a fourth-round pick from Louisville, underwent surgery Friday and is expected to miss at least the first part of training camp in August.
Already lost for the season is first-round pick Dante Fowler, who sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament May 8 during the opening rookie minicamp practice.
General manager Dave Caldwell said Sample was injured during the final period of the Jaguars’ sixth organized team activity workout. The session was open to the media but it went unnoticed because Sample wasn’t visibly attended to on the field.
