Jaguars cultivate a younger fan base: A group that doesn't know Jacksonville without the team

Wayne Weaver has moved on from the Jaguars.

The creator of the franchise told the Times-Union he doesn’t speak publicly about the team he sold to Shad Khan in 2011.

However, his vision has come to fruition. The Jaguars, who will embark on their 21st season this fall, finally have a fan base that has truly grown up with the team.

They aren’t converted Dolphins or Buccaneers fans.

They aren’t Gators or Seminoles first.

They can’t remember when Jacksonville wasn’t an NFL city.

Generation Jaguar has arrived.

“I love the Gators, but that’s my dad’s thing,” said 24-year-old Jordan de Lugo.
