The Jaguars claimed former Buffalo quarterback Jeff Tuel off waivers on Monday.
Two first-year Jaguars assistants are familiar with Tuel. Offensive line coach Doug Marrone coached the Bills for two seasons prior to joining the Jaguars, while quarterbacks coach Nathaniel Hackett worked under him as offensive coordinator.
Tuel was released by the Bills after spending two seasons with the team. Buffalo signed the 6-foot-3, 221-pound Tuel as an undrafted free agent out of Washington state in 2013. He started a game as a rookie and played in two, but did not see any action in 2014.
Tuel completed 26 of 59 passes for 309 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions with Buffalo.
